Introduce yourself! Who are you?
My name is Kharissa Forte. I'm a wife, mom, and stereotypical pisces. On my Instagram bio, I define myself as a hustler, hipster, and humanitarian because I know how to flip a dollar, I'm super artsy and creative, and I genuinely care about the well being of others. I design websites for a living, but writing is my calling. My purpose on this earth is to be a soul shifter by using my gifts and skills to inspire and challenge who we are as women creatives.
I'm really into cigars. I like to pair them with desserts and cocktails. It's a fun hobby.
As a single woman without children, value your time, your money, and your space. Once you begin to build a life with someone be it through marriage, motherhood, or some other type of lifelong commitment, these are three things you'll never fully get back.
Pay attention to the core desires of your goals and align with them. Doing so will help ensure you're cultivating a life based on fulfillment as opposed to validation.
My greatest fear is not living up to my true potential... and spiders!
Yes! The natural feeling was to defend myself, but somehow I was able to listen to the point and realize there's a real reason for this doubt that relates to behaviors I've displayed. I was able to grow and become a better woman because that person was brave enough to share their doubt in me with me. I'm very grateful for that!
Playing the victim role is a form of self-righteousness. So, when you see other people walking in their calling before you walk in yours, resist the inclination to run down the mental list of why it should be you. Your time is coming. And, really, it's only partially about your skills and gifts and strategies. Are you paying attention to the lessons life is trying to teach you? THAT'S the secret. Learn the lessons and grow.
Living in Kansas City, Missouri is great! It's a little big town; very culturally eclectic. The cost of living is fabulous. We get to experience all four seasons, sometimes in the same week!
It's very easy for me to look at myself or to apologize when I've hurt someone. I'm big on growth.
The first time I went off to college, I actually flunked out. Fast forward seven years and I finally earned my BA in journalism. I've even used it in radio, TV, and print. That felt pretty good.
It's okay to let go of people, jobs, beliefs, things you thought you wanted... We all evolve and change. Let go with grace and gratitude.
I love to travel because it's a big world out there and I think it's important to get out of my bubble, break the norm sometimes and see what "the norm" even means in other parts of the world. I think traveling keeps me grounded and removed from feeling entitled.
Knowing that one day I will no longer be here. My existence was optional, but God saw fit for me to be born... So, my existence is necessary. I just want to do what I was placed on this earth to do.
I honor the moment. As a full time entrepreneur, I work from home so I just pay attention to what's needed in that moment and I prioritize those needs. Sometimes that means working on a project for just another 30 minutes. Other times, that means giving my children my attention right away or pressing pause to go take a walk and have a glass of wine. Work-life balance is just about perspective and priority of needs.
Oh, gosh! I could literally live off of smoked salmon, cream cheese, bagels, and merlot. I might try that...
I pay attention! I pay attention to vibes from other people, the energy I give off, how productive versus busy I am, my thoughts, how my family is interacting with one another... everything. Then, I write.
I'm definitely an introvert. I'm very shy and careful about who I allow into my space. I much rather be at home with a book or getting lost in a museum instead of going to parties or large gatherings.
I would probably still be in the media industry somehow.
Honestly, I just want to cultivate authentic relationships.
There have been a few times where I believe I literally manifested what I wanted. It could be an opportunity or seeing someone or getting something... I knew I wasn't crazy when I heard Jim Carrey talk about experiencing this very thing in his own life.
This world is so amazing. I am inspired by nature, the universe, things people create, and the unapologetic honesty of children.
I am most passionate about helping women live their best lives right now.
