I'm Tara. I'm originally from Reno but currently live in beautiful San Diego. I have overcome breast cancer at 26 years old and am now manifesting my new life as a healer and yoga teacher.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
My dad always told me to follow your heart, and I am just now getting the hang of this.
What would you say to 16 year old you?
I would say, stop being so hard on yourself. Life is a gift.
What message do you think every woman should hear?
We need to life each other up rather than be so judgmental. We are all fighting our own battles, many of them are not visible to the outside eye. It is so important to come together as women and rise above, creating community and empowering others.
What is your favorite thing about where you live?
I love living within walking distance to the beach. The beach is my healing sanctuary, it is my "church."
What do you love most about yourself?
I love that I have risen above the battles I have faced.
Do you remember a specific time you overcame adversity?
I was diagnosed with stage 2a triple positive breast cancer at 26 years old. I underwent chemo, a double mastectomy, reconstruction, and hormonal therapy. Being stripped down to the core of who I was, letting go of relying on my looks, allowed me to see my soul and find my true essence and calling in life.
What is the biggest thing you’ve learned along the way?
Don't take life so seriously, waking up every day is a gift. How amazing is it that we are gifted with the sunrise and sunset in one day. What more do we really need?
What motivates you most?
The fact that I have battled breast cancer at such a young age is my motivation to live my dreams. If I can battle cancer, I can do so much I never dreamed was possible. That is why I am launching my healing business.
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I have a yoga practice and try to incorporate meditation into my day as well. Constantly reminding myself how much I am grateful for and appreciating the small every day miracles in life allow me to grow and move forward.
If you weren’t doing the job you have now, what would you be doing?
I am currently working in law, but I am in the process of starting my own healing business. After facing cancer, a lot was put into perspective. I found my calling as a healer. I received my yoga certification and I am also certified in yoga for cancer recovery. I became a Reiki Master and facilitate ceremonies in San Diego. Check out my instagram to book a Reiki healing session, yoga classes, new moon ceremonies, workshops, and more!
What is something on your bucket list?
I am dying to go to India.
Have you ever had an extraordinary experience? Describe it!
Burning Man! I am an avid burner and the playa is such a beautiful, profound place of healing and adventure for me. My partner and I went last year after taking a few years off due to cancer treatment. It was such a magical week. I burned all of my old bras at the temple along with my dear breast cancer letter I got engraved on wood. After placing everything in the temple, a Shamanic Healer appeared and we blessed the four directions and then watched the sunrise with a bottle of champagne. It was truly magical and the most beautiful morning I will never forget.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration in the beauty around me, nature, loved ones, and my spiritual teachers.
What are your biggest passions?
My biggest passions include yoga, Reiki, and transformation. I think all of us are in this physical body to learn, grow, and heal along the way. Enjoy the ride!
